Annual Award Descriptions
RSPA Intermountain Racquets Sports Professional of the Year – Recognizes a member who, over a calendar year, has demonstrated exemplary achievement in seven areas, including: RSPA, allied organizations, club achievements, career development, volunteerism, coaching achievements and playing achievements.
RSPA Intermountain Lifetime Achievement Award – Recognizes a member who, over a career, has demonstrated exemplary achievement in seven areas, including: contributions to RSPA and other allied organizations, as a teaching professional, player, and coach; in education, research, and publications; and with other organizations, achievements and contributions. Given from to time.
RSPA Intermountain Star Award – Recognizes members who have dedicated many years to volunteering in grassroots racquet sports and through initiatives incorporating multicultural and other aspects and bringing the sport and sportsmanship to players. Their giving spirits have made them stars in their own communities. The Star Award may also recognize RSPA members who have done the most to raise money for charities through events. It could honor those hosting the most creative, original or unique event to raise money for charities.
RSPA Intermountain Industry Excellence Award – Recognizes the teaching professional who takes both an altruistic and entrepreneurial attitude toward their jobs. They use their own resources and those offered by the industry to build programs that bring tennis to more people.
RSPA Intermountain College Coach of the Year Award – Recognizes the member based on their results as team coach, however, individual coaches may be considered.
RSPA Intermountain High School Coach of the Year Award – Recognizes the member based on their results as team coach, however, individual coaches may be considered.
RSPA Intermountain Touring Coach of the Year Award – Recognizes the member based on their work with a playing professional on the profesional tours.
RSPA Intermountain Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Award – Recognizes the member who has demonstrated an outstanding ability to unite diverse populations within their community through racquet sports.
RSPA Intermountain Young Professionals Award – Recognizes a member under the age of 30 who, through their tennis-teaching and volunteer spirit, has increased opportunities for others to participate in tennis. This member exemplifies and emphasizes individual achievement and sportsmanship along with teaching the physical attributes of the sport. This member has served the RSPA in one capacity or another for five or fewer years and has made a commitment to grassroots racquet sports and an indelible impression on their community.
RSPA Intermountain Manager of the Year Award (Large and Small Facility) Reconizes outstanding leadership and excellence in the management of racquet sports facilities. This is the only RSPA award available to non-members, though RSPA Professionals are also eligible. The award recognizes General Managers—or those serving in that function, regardless of title—who demonstrate unwavering support for the racquet sports profession, employ RSPA-certified racquet sports personnel, provides educational support and professional development for the entire racquets staff, including an annual educational budget not limited to the Director, demonstrates consistent advocacy for RSPA values, significant facility growth through operational improvements and enhanced programming, high standards of safety, professionalism, and member satisfaction, and who elevate their facility and staff through strategic leadership, and innovation.
